Who’s that girl?

“It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.”  – Madeline Albright

This quote speaks to my soul. Like many women, finding my voice was a process. There was trial and error, days when my voice was meek and days when it was strong. Professionally I am a social worker, actively working towards clinical licensure. I have worked with our society’s most vulnerable populations, and in advocating for them I learned to advocate for me.

Why a blog? Turns out that when I found my voice I actually had a lot to say!

Lattes and Laughter, is a space where I describe how I survive being a working mother, wife, daughter, friend and sister. I will talk about issues that are important to me such as mental health and social justice. But I will also share the things that help me survive. I love lattes and I love to laugh…get it “Lattes and Laughter?” Meeting a friend for coffee, sharing stories, or just venting has been a key step in my own mental wellbeing. Here I will share these experiences and much more.

  1. Wow! What a beautiful post. Just about everything that you mentioned here is something I can relate to. I am in my second semester of my social work program and I’m very excited to delve into the world of counseling. Quotes are a very big part of what inspires me to write and share my stories. I would love to know where this quote is from.
